2191 days agoWhile I respect Randy's point of view, and he is my dear friend, I would like to add my view to the Freedom of Speech issue that he mentioned. Freedom of Speech, which in the US is established under the 1st Amendment of our Constitution, only restricts our GOVERNMENT from regulating it's citizens speech or expression.
RedHeadsRule says:
2191 days agoThis does not, and never has, applied to private websites, or homes, or any PRIVATE establishment. It only applies governmental ones. Even then, there ARE some limitations to our Freedom of Speech. For example, you can't display (or even possess) child pornography even if the person displaying it claims that it is a form of "art". You can't incite violence or slander a person through lies.

2191 days agoWhat Sheila was attempting to express was that there are CERTAIN Blingees dealing with such volatile subjects as religion or politics WILL upset some people in our community. Blingee has developed into a close social artistic community. Of course art can be controversial, but rarely will a gothic Blingee incite the kind of emotions that a political or religious one invokes, specifically when they express beliefs that may hit a strong nerve with some of us.

2191 days agoAn example of this is the many Blingees that have been made that express the belief that anyone who has an abortion is going to hell or something to that effect. Personally, I could not have an abortion-so I never had one. HOWEVER, I know of a few artists on Blingee who have, and at least a couple of them are extremely regretful of that decision. They may be tormented by the memory, and daily mourn the child they never had.

2191 days agoFurthermore, there ARE women who have had to make the devastating choice between risking their lives in an attempt to carry a baby to term, or end the pregnancy. Women who face this decision are often in a LOT of pain, they feel guilt and they, too, are mourning the child they never had. So WHY would any person choose to make something, and put it right in their face in the spotlight, that tears their hearts out every time they look at it?

2191 days agoWhether a mistake made in youth that they regret, or a painful medical decision that they will never be certain of, there is no kindness, nor do I believe it is a very CHRIST-LIKE action, to condemn them publically and cause them heartache. Sure, you may be allowed to because you have freedom of speech, but what good does it serve? When it comes to religion and politics, I believe that you don't need to express your opinion about every little thing unless your opinion or advice is solicited.
